Run-time error 380 is most commonly caused an interrupted or incomplete download of the Legacy update file, but there may be other causes as well. This error does not cause any data to be lost and usually can be fixed by re-downloading the update file and making sure it finishes.

Legacy: First, please open your Documents folder and browse into Legacy Family Tree\ _AppData\Usr and delete the Legacy2.usr, Legacy5.usr, Legacy6.usr, Legacy7.usr Legacy8.usr, and Legacy9.usr files (make sure you do not delete plain Legacy.usr). There is no family data in any of these files, so deleting them does not delete your data. Upon start up, Legacy will recreate the files to their default settings.

Next visit http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/DownloadUpdate.asp to update Legacy. The update process will repair error 380. Please Note: The download progress indicator may appear to 'stall'. This is normal. Legacy is downloading. Please do not cancel the download as this causes the run-time error 380 which can only be fixed by completing this download.

If error 380 persists, export all the records into a GEDCOM file and then import the GEDCOM back into Legacy as a new family file. Click on File > Export > GEDCOM File.

   1) Click on File > Export > GEDCOM File. The GEDCOM Export window appears.
   2) In the Produce file for: box, select Legacy.
   3) Click the Privacy Options button to open the Privacy Options screen.
   4) In the lower half of the screen, under Override Private Settings, click the Check All button and then click Save.
   5) When you are ready to export, click the Select File Name and START EXPORT button.  Legacy prompts you for a file name and location, and then creates the GEDCOM file for you. Remember the location on your hard drive where you save the GEDCOM file. You will need to be able to locate it in order to upload it or attach it to an e-mail message.

When the export is finished, import it back into Legacy as a new family file. Click on File and select Import From > Use Import Wizard to help with any import and follow the prompts.

Legacy 7.5 and earlier: First, please browse into C:\Legacy folder on your hard drive and delete the Legacy2.usr, Legacy5.usr, Legacy6.usr, Legacy7.usr and Legacy8.usr files (make sure you do not delete plain Legacy.usr). There is no family data in any of these files, so deleting them does not delete your data. Upon start up, Legacy will recreate the files to their default settings.
